POSITION: Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service invites applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor and Extension Range Specialist position with an emphasis in applied rangeland management. The individual selected will serve as a faculty member (100% Extension, non-tenure track) in the Department of Rangeland Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Texas A&M University and will respond to AgriLife Extension Administration through the Department Head and Associate Department Head for Extension. Cooperation with district and county Extension faculty and other Extension faculty in planning, conducting, and evaluating educational programs is expected. Position will be headquartered at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research & Extension Center in Uvalde with an anticipated start date of no earlier than 1 January 2022. Texas Extension Districts served will include Southwest District 10 and designated counties in West District 6, West Central District 7, and South District 12.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to develop a high profile, effective educational program in Rangeland Management, with emphasis on Texas rangelands, which is recognized at regional, state, national and international levels. Other major job responsibilities include:
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in Rangeland Management or other Natural Resources related discipline. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups, communicate effectively, conduct interdisciplinary program development, and effectively apply teaching and research methodologies is required. Evidence of conducting applied research and translating results relevant to the public is strongly preferred. The equivalent of two years in Extension, teaching, research, post-doctoral or related professional experience is preferred.
RESOURCES: Salary will be commensurate with ability, education, and professional experience. Access to research facilities associated with the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Texas A&M AgriLife, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will be available to the successful candidate.
