Texas Tech University

A postdoctoral position is available in the Norris Lab within the Department of Natural Resources Management at Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX). The research will focus on assessing the impact of treated produced water from oil and gas production on plant morpho-physiology, soil health, and forage nutritive value. The successful candidate will assess the viability of using treated produced water as an alternative water source for regional forages, with evaluations being performed in greenhouse and field settings. The position requires a broad range of knowledge and skills, including carrying out greenhouse and small-plot research and detail oriented management of activities.

Main Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Perform applied research focused on morpho-physiological responses of various forage species and grasses to different water sources in greenhouse and field conditions.
  • Monthly soil and water testing to assess soil health and monitor nutrient load across different trials.
  • Active involvement in data analysis and interpretation, generation of peer-reviewed publications, and development of proposals related to forage systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, manage research logistics, and supervise field/lab personnel.
  • Ability to prepare detailed monthly status reports and updates for the funding agency.
