Ranch Operations Technician

ABOUT THE COMPANY PFC Resources LLC is a natural resources holding company based in Oregon’s Upper Klamath Basin. PFC focuses on natural resource management, emphasizing the restoration of critical ecosystem services on private working lands while maintaining active agricultural operations. We own and manage over 20,000 acres of deeded lands and leases on an additional 49,000 acres in the Upper Klamath Basin. PFC’s work is grounded in long-term stewardship, supporting ecological health while partnering with Tribal and local communities across the Basin. ABOUT THE POSITION The Ranch Operations Technician plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and stewardship of PFC’s ranch properties and agricultural assets. Working closely with ranch leadership, this position is responsible for operating and maintaining ranch equipment, supporting agricultural and haying activities, maintaining infrastructure, and ensuring the overall functionality and appearance of ranch facilities and lands. This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and a commitment to safety. The Ranch Operations Technician will perform a variety of tasks that support ranch operations, including equipment maintenance, fencing, weed management, property upkeep, and livestock support activities. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, takes pride in maintaining high standards of property care, and can work independently while contributing to broader ranch operational goals. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES -Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine repairs on ranch and agricultural equipment. -Support hay production, farming activities, vegetation management, and general ranch operations. -Maintain equipment in safe working condition and ensure proper stewardship of ranch assets. -Construct, repair, and maintain fencing throughout ranch properties. -Perform maintenance and repairs on barns, shops, outbuildings, roads, and other ranch infrastructure. -Identify and address maintenance needs proactively to support efficient ranch operations. -Support weed management and vegetation control programs, including herbicide application when appropriate. -Assist with irrigation, water infrastructure maintenance, and other land stewardship activities. -Help maintain ranch properties in alignment with agricultural and conservation objectives. -Assist with cattle operations, including feeding, handling, pasture management, and general livestock care as needed. -Support seasonal agricultural activities and coordinate with ranch staff, contractors, and vendors when required. -Adhere to all safety procedures and operational standards. -Maintain organized work areas, equipment records, and supplies. -Work independently to prioritize tasks while communicating effectively with ranch leadership regarding operational needs and project progress. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS -Minimum of 5 years of hands-on ranch, farm, agricultural, or property maintenance experience. -Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting ranch and agricultural equipment. -Experience with fence construction, repair, and ongoing maintenance. -Experience performing maintenance and repairs on ranch facilities and infrastructure. -Working knowledge of hay production, agricultural operations, or farming practices. -Experience with weed management, vegetation control, and herbicide application. -Ability to safely perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather and terrain conditions. -Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. -Commitment to safety, equipment stewardship, and high standards of property care. -Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications -Experience working with cattle, including feeding, handling, pasture management, and general livestock care. -Experience operating tractors, loaders, skid steers, mowers, sprayers, and similar agricultural equipment. -Familiarity with irrigation systems, water infrastructure, and basic repairs. -Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, or seasonal labor crews. -Knowledge of ranch management, grazing practices, and land stewardship principles. Location & On-Site Requirements (Housing Options Available) This role requires consistent, hands-on leadership and regular in-person presence at our ranch operations in the Klamath Basin, Oregon. While on-site housing is not required there are options on-site available. The role requires a person to reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to the surrounding region to ensure reliable and ongoing operational oversight.
