Post Doc Precision Grazing Technology
Post Doc Precision Grazing Technology
About The Position
A Post Doc position is available with the SDSU Department of Animal Science to evaluate the impact of regenerative grazing management practices on production and environmental outcomes. The Producers First program will include producer-informed studies to generate practical insights that improve grazing efficiency and demonstrate the land benefits of regenerative practices – helping validate management outcomes.
This project will conduct collaborative, applied research with a focus on researching precision livestock technologies to measure and manage regenerative land management practices. Research will evaluate soil health outcomes, GHG cattle and bison emissions, and precision livestock technology integration, including virtual fencing to achieve conservation practice implementation. Results will inform adaptive management strategies and support participation in value-based supply chains and value-added markets. The post doc will assist in research development, data analysis, lab management, and manuscript preparation with a focus on precision technology in grazing systems.
Desired Qualifications: Ph.D. in animal science, rangeland science, or related field with knowledge of grazing systems or beef cattle production. Experience with precision livestock equipment, data science principles, statistical programming (R or Python) and big data management. Applicants interested in topics of targeted grazing, plant-soil-animal interactions, or livestock crop integration are highly encouraged to apply.
