Journal Highlight: Rangelands, February 2017

(Volume 39, Issue 1, Pages 28–31)

In the February issue of Rangelands, New Mexico rancher Scott Stovall shares his experiences restoring vegetation along two miles of the Pecos River that serves as the northern boundary of his ranch. In “Vegetation Restoration on the Pecos River in East Central New Mexico,” Stovall shares the restoration techniques he used, including fencing, vegetation replanting, and addressing the challenges encountered from floods, droughts, and stray cattle, and the results he obtained. He hopes that the lessons he learned may help other ranchers save money and time if they should decide to tackle similar river restoration projects. CLICK HERE to read the article.
