Correspondence included question from SRM on how often we would like a Director to attend our Section meeting. We would need to pay their expenses. Voting for SRM officers and directors is due October 16, 2015. Members were encouraged to purchase the 2015-2016 Kansas Natural Heritage Calendars from KAWS.

Walt Fick reported $6,182.70 in our Section account as of October 14, 2015.

Officer Reports: Shelly Wiggam is the incoming chair of the SRM Policy & Public Affairs Committee. Items of concern include: declining SRM membership, rebranding of SRM.   Gina Grier asked about a science policy related to burning. Some interest has been expressed in reestablishing a Kansas-Oklahoma section.

Fick had membership forms available. The Section award deadline is January 23, 2016. Need to work with Livia Olsen to update online information regarding awards. Each sponsoring organization of the Kansas Natural Resources Conference is eligible to nominate an individual for a KNRC conservation award. Dusty Tacha is chair of the nominating committee which can include 2 or 3 other past presidents. Livia Olsen is looking for pictures to use on the Section website. She asked for people to check out the website for errors and any information needing updated. The Adult Range Schools will be held August 2-4, 2016 at Camp Lakeside and August 16-18 at Camp Wood.

Old Business: A motion was passed to provide scholarships for students attending the 2015 Adult Range Schools ($875 split between the Kansas Section, SRM and the Kansas Range Youth Camp). The Section supported Old World Bluestem workshops at Hays and Greensburg with $80. A motion was passed to support a Fall Burning Workshop to be held at the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve with $200. A request for support was received from the Kansas Envirothon. Emphasis in 2016 will be on invasive species. Rangeland is an ongoing topic of the Envirothon. A motion passed to support this activity with $500 from the KRYC fund. Shelly Wiggam will be the new KS-SRM liaison with the Kansas Grazing Land Coalition. The Section is still in need of a secretary/treasurer. There was some discussion about the Kansas Section hosting a future SRM meeting, possibly in Wichita.

Announcements: Abstracts due for KNRC November 6, 2015. The Society for Range Management Annual Meeting & Trade Show is January 31-February 4, 2016 in Corpus Christi, TX. The next Kansas Section, SRM meeting is at 4:30 p.m. on February 4, 2016 at the Wichita Airport Double Tree Hotel.
